The (controversial) building with the best bar in Vienna

Saturday, August 19, 2017

Vienna- As with many innovative structures around the world, the daring Hass Haus in striking Vienna was originally very controversial. Local architect Hans Hollein created a modern glass structure opposite St. Stephens Cathedral, no less, an idea very disputed among the Viennese at the time. Today, having a drink at the breathtaking Onyx Bar overlooking the cathedral though glass is an experience not to be missed here. I got in without reservation by sheer luck (do reserve) and was so glad I did! You'll find it on the sixth floor of this beautiful  building on Stephansplatz, a gorgeous hi-tech steel and glass structure that seems forever at odds with the cathedral in front.
